A quiet house on a holiday! Perfect!
I "accidently" found two copycat recipes for See's candies this week. I knew I shouldn't, but I had to try them. Delicious and super easy. I got that out of my system and won't do them again until Christmas. Then I'll be sure to get chocolate sprinkles to add to the top of the "Bordeaux."
I decided to gift a friend with a little box of chocolates (so I don't eat them all!). I love that with the Scor-Pal, I can easily make a box or bag. Once I decide on the dimensions, it only takes a minute to decide how large I need my cardstock and where to put the folds and cuts.
For this one, I cut the bottom 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 and scored 1" in on each side all the way around. I made the top 4 7/8 x 4 7/8 and again scored 1" from each side. I die cut the star from the center and taped cellophane behind it. A Fiskars Border Punch was used on the top piece before taping it all together. The cardstock was double sided, so I just flipped my star over and used it for a tag.
I'm entering this in PaperCrafter's Corner's Magazine Monday Challenge, my new fave challenge! Here's the inspiration for this week. I went with the patriotic colors and, Steph, did you notice I used the negative space again? :o)
I've never entered the Scor-Pal challenge, but realized I could do a twofer this week. I do love my Scor-Pals, yes, Scor-Pals, plural. I bought the newer one with more grooves, but can't part with the original. I'd love to have a Scor-Buddy, too, just because it's so cute. The Scor-Pal challenge is "More Than One Score" Challenge #6 - Colors of Your Country/Patriotic." This is a monthly challenge that runs through the end of July.
Hopefully, my links will take you to both of these challenges. Thanks for looking.
I love your box and your chocolates. They look very yummy. Your work is superb, as always. I've been looking at this site thinking I might join in the fun there.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great job creating something special & making others happy - something you are good at. Just had See's candies for the 1st time on Mother's Day sent to me from DD who just moved to CA this year. I'm hooked!
ReplyDeleteFood for you, Suzi! I love your box and it is great that you could make it fit for two challenges. Someone is going to live your gift!
ReplyDeleteI really need to figure out why my blog will not post pictures. I want to keep doing MM and it would be fun to find a few more challenges to be a part of
super cute box, like the addition of the punchwork at the bottom
ReplyDeleteThis is such an adorable patriotic box! You did a fantastic job, with it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous little box! I the star opening and the touch of punching on the edge, and of course the chocolates look delicious! Thanks for joining in our "Colors of Your Country/Patriotic" theme at Scor-Pal this month and Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteYour box is wonderful and I bet the chocolates inside are too! I wonder what happened to my earlier comment the day you posted this? Good luck at the Scor-Pal site too!
ReplyDeleteI think I figured out where my comment went. You have a codeword protection for your comments and it doesn't show on my screen; I need to scroll down for it. So I probably thought I was done and just moved on without typing in the codeword.
