Fiska-Fun!

Hi, I am Fiskateer #5563!  Yes, it sounds like the opening of some meeting for those with addictions.  It is, kinda!  Fiskateers is an off-shoot of Fiskars, the makers of all those fun, mostly orange, scissors, trimmers, yard tools, etc., that encourage creativity.  It is also a place to meet and learn and support other crafters, a warm, fun group of paper lovers., i.e, addicts.  Being a fiskateer has not cured my addictions.  It has made them worse!  It has fed my addiction for punches, especially.  A couple of weeks ago, I was feeling a little down.  My collection of squeeze punches went from 4 to 11!  But I felt so much better!  If you are a scrapbooker, a cardmaker or a seamstress, try it.  You'll like it! Just click here to see what it's all about.

Sunday, 8.23.2009 Worship Team Practice

I'm going to try to add a video I did of our worship team practicing last Sunday before church. On my computer, they sound awesome. I hope you can see and enjoy them as I did.

That's my hubby, Dwight, on the right and my son, Bumper, next to him. My friend Jeri is in the center. Next to her is Mitch, then Fred. I know you usually go right to left, but my hubby has to come first! I'll have to do another one when Jon and Ashley are there.

Photo problems!

This is the set of cards I made for Candi. I have no idea why the photo in the last post turned into a red x. I tried to delete it and couldn't do that either. So for now, this will have to do. Aargh!

One Sheet Wonder for Candi

Well, in my last post I said that I usually make two of everything. In this case, it was seven. I thought it was six, but then I remembered how to count. On Dawn's Stamping Blog she showed how she used one sheet of designer paper to make eight or so similar, but different, cards. I googled "one sheet wonder" and found a template to cut the dp into various shapes and how to lay out a variety of cards. I used it to make a set of cards for my sister Candi's birthday.

I added tags that she can use as needed. I even made a little box for to go in.
What a good sister! LOL!

I may have gotten a little carried away with the butterflies. They just appeared from nowhere. I had no intention of going the butterfly-route until then. Anyway, I had fun doing this, and she said she liked it, but she had to. I'm the big sister!

Spellbinders Daisy Heads, Tiger and Jasper (Sigh!)

I tend to do two of everything just because it is easier. The first one is often my "prototype," i.e., the one with all the mistakes while I'm still figuring it out. I think that is the case with these, but I'm not going to tell you which one has the goofs. No use pointing out my own faults!

We "babysat" Jasper for two and a half weeks. It was so much fun. Grandson Tiger bonded with her (Yes, Jasper is a girl!), and we hated to have her leave. We were glad to have Jasper's family home. We missed our friends a lot. Just didn't want them to take their birdie home!

When I add text and pictures to this blog-thing, and I preview them, they are fine. However, when I publish the post, the text isn't always where I want it. This is going to take some time to figure out. Aaargh!

More fun with Sunflower Spellbinders

I can tell already that I'm not going to be very good at this. Generally, I can be found at one of two places: either my crafting table or here on the laptop in the recliner in the bedroom. If I have any energy, I'm at the craft table. When I'm worn out, I'm here. But if I'm worn out, I get too tired to even type. So if I'm going to do this, I'm going to have to make myself sit here while I still have a little oomph. Not easy.

When I made the card for my one-and-only card competition, I cut out some extra pieces with the same papers. Here is that card.

A first! Me in a card contest!

Wow! This is scary! I've never had a blog before and I've never entered one of my cards in a contest! I must be crazy. But 2sketches4you is giving away a justrite stamp set, something I've been drooling over for awhile. I figured it's worth a shot. So here goes. First is the sketch we are given; then, my card. Gee, I hope I did this right. I'm so nervous about this. I have to remember what my dear friend Pat said, "Suzi, it's only paper!" Oh, yeah, no big deal!

Wha?

Well, I am so confused already! I want to do this, but it may be more than my feeble, air-deprived brain can handle right now. I'll do some more reading and see if I can't figure it out.
