ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday, October 24

First of all, "Thank you" ScrapMuch? for all the inspiration!  Following only one scrap challenge a month was not helping me catch up DGD's page a month album.  With the help of your fun sketch challenges, I am making progress.  Of course, now I've added another grandchild and another is on the way, so even when I catch up I will be behind!  :o)

Both the paper and the stickers were received in a RAK from a dear Fiskateer Friend some time ago.  Perfect for DGD's first camping trip!  I am blessed, indeed!

Sketch-y Friday with ScrapMuch?

I love the ScrapMuch? sketch for October 17!  The lace is a girly element that I thought would be perfect for a page in DGD's page a month album.  I went back a ways to fill in some months I missed.  This  became her June 2010 page.  The top picture was taken on Papa's 80th birthday.  They bonded as soon as she came home from the hospital.  His lap is still her Happy Place when she's with us.
I followed this sketch closer than I usually do.  It didn't need any help from me!  But I did find the pastel colors I used a little harder to photograph.

PCC Inspiration, Week 73
The inspiration this week did the trick.  I was inspired, inspired to take  pictures!  I knew I couldn't take a picture of DGD in the moon, so I chose her favorite tree at the nearby park.  I planned to use it as the focal point on a scrapbook page, but it became the page.  I made a 12 x 12 print on my Canon Pixma Pro, which I got for less than $100!  It turned out so beautiful that it won't be hidden in a scrapbook page, but will become "home decor!"  I broke the scrapbook page frame I had purchased earlier or it would already be hanging in my wall of fame!  Thank you, Steph, for making me get the camera out!

PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine Monday #72

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 72 Inspiration Piece (image)
PCC Inspiration
It took me awhile to find the needed inspiration in this magazine cover, although I do love the color palette.  I ended up going with a face as the focal point. . .but my face is more fun!

I used clipart from Laurie Furnell.  She comes to my rescue when I need a little coloring.  DGD and I are going to send a batch of cards in for nursing home residents, so I wanted something easy for the two of us to work on together.  And since Steph at PaperCrafter's Corner issued a 20 minute papercrafting challenge, I timed myself:  25 minutes for this first card, but I think it will come faster now that I have made adjustments to the sketch (lifted from a Spellbinders Blog entry).  I think he may need a little Stickles and/or Glossy Accents, though!  :o)

Sketch-y Friday at ScrapMuch?

A really fun thing happened yesterday.  I was working on my layout for the October 10 challenge at ScrapMuch?  The page is for July 2014 of DGD's page-a-month album, so I had decided to go with an Americana, red, white and blue theme.  I had most of it together, but no embellishments yet.  Then the mail came!  A prize package from ScrapMuch? which included red, white and blue Americana embellishments!  Didn't I just say that's what I needed?  I honestly had everything else right there!  This is almost as weird as when Google reads my mind and finishes my search entry!  :o)  But in a fun, not as creepy, way!  Thank you Scrap Much?!  I giggled all the way to the craft room!
ScrapMuch? posts weekly sketch challenges, but the entries don't have to be posted until the end of the month, so there is still time to play.  I'm finding it a big incentive to get scrapping having that inspiration right in front of me.  Here's the sketch for Friday, October 10th:
Yes, I'll straighten up the "United States of America" tag before I put this in the album.  Oops!

Sketch-y Friday at ScrapMuch? October 3, 2014

Last month I did all the Sketch-y Friday challenges for ScrapMuch? in one week.  This month I hope to stay ahead of the game.  There are fun and challenging sketches here, so I do hope my friends will play along.
I'm pretty new at two-page sketches, but I think I like them!  More pictures without crowding.  Thanks, ScrapMuch?!

Magazine Monday #71 at PaperCrafter's Corner

This week's challenge gave me the chance to start on a few Halloween treats.  And I did it in 21 minutes!  I would have succeeded in Tuesday's 20 minute challenge if I hadn't dropped 100 tiny, slippery ziploc bags and stopped to pick them up.  I did choose my paper, die and draw a simple schematic within the time frame.  Of course, I only got 2 made, but that's start.  :o)

I used the colors, pumpkins and Halloween theme from the Magazine Monday inspiration piece.

October "Colour" Challenge at ScrapMuch?

I love writing words like colour and theatre!  ScrapMuch? is in Canada.  They apparently use the Queen's English, too.  :o)
This is the first colour (teehee) challenge I've done with them.  Such fun!  I used the same palette for my DCWV Stackaholic entry this month.  Love it!  My photo may not capture the colors as well, but they are close.  I used all five on this A2 card.

PaperCrafter's Corner, Magazine Monday #70

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 70 Inspiration Piece (image)     I've been wanting to use my new Sizzix Flippit die for a couple of weeks.  This was just the right time!  I used the colors, blues, purples and off-whites, and the small print from the PCC inspiration.  I love script.  That and music scores are my two favorite backgrounds.  I should use them more.  :o)
Most of the paper is Bazzill Basics, with a few scraps thrown in.  The die is a discontinued one from Bosskutz and the inside stamp is also discontinued from Clear Dollar Stamps.  They were one of my favorite, but they switched to digital.
I'm sure most of my "toys" are discontinued.  I have a hard time staying current.  Hey, I'm old!  But that's okay.  Yesterday we celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary.  We said we wanted to grow old together and we have.  Ain't life grand?  We are blessed indeed!

Papercrafting is such a fun hobby.  And it gives me the opportunity to preserve memories for my family and cheer or comfort friends with homemade cards and gifts.  Now that's just way cool!
