Paper Crafter's Corner Magazine Monday #60!

These days it seems I have so little time for one of the things I love most, i.e., PAPERCRAFTING!!!  So when I sit down at my craft table it is great to have an immediate goal.  Paper Crafter's Corner provides that every week.  Thank you, PCC!  I love Magazine Monday challenges.  Just wish I would have found you sooner.

Magazine Monday Inspiration #60
I took my inspiration from the umbrellas, as you can see from the magazine cover.  I used a graphic I downloaded from the Graphics Fairy and added a kind of beachy background, a computer skill I had to relearn!  That became the focal point of my card.  I thought the dotted paper from DCWV resembled rain drops, and I added a few Rain Dots to those.  I hope you can see them.  Then some black layers on a kraft card, a bit of black embroidery thread and a small button.  It was just the paper therapy I needed this week.  :o)

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays – Week 59

Magazine Monday Inspiration
This week's challenge at PaperCrafter's Corner was indeed a challenge!  I really wanted to do a 3-D effect using a die cut.  I recently viewed a tutorial on that technique, but could not, for the life of me, find it.  Then I remembered an idea I had for using the Die-Versions Rocking Chair die.  I used the ideas of a neutral background, pops of color and a black heading from the inspiration piece.  I like the result so much I may have to make a few more to send out to some special people.  I'm thinking it could even be a birthday card with a sentiment stamped inside.  :o)

PCC's Magazine Mondays--Week 58

Time for another challenge from PaperCrafter's Corner!
I think the Disney movie Frozen is the biggest hit in a long time for little girls.  I hear them singing several aisles over when I go shopping.  My 4-year-old DGD (dear granddaughter) is no exception!  She knows all the songs beginning to end and thinks she doesn't have to wear shoes on a chilly evening, "because the cold doesn't bother [her] anyway!"
http://pccorner.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/MM-Week-58-Inspiration-Piece-300x183.jpg     Next week she is going to a Frozen themed birthday party.  She and her little friend, Ava, love princesses, dress-up and especially Elsa and Anna.  So I made a birthday card using inspiration from this week's challenge.
I liked the partially painted picture and mimicked that.  After I printed the picture with Sequoia's and Ava's heads, I printed it again in lightened gray-scales and added parts of that to my card layer.  The biggest problem I had was trying to splatter a little big of reinker on the second layer.  I thought Distress inks were water soluble, but I have them all over my hands, and they're not coming off!  LOL!
The picture is 4x6 layered on a 5x7 card.  That's just a tiny, tiny pencil from my embellishment stash.

Happy Fourth of July!

A quiet house on a holiday!  Perfect!
I "accidently" found two copycat recipes for See's candies this week.  I knew I shouldn't, but I had to try them.  Delicious and super easy.  I got that out of my system and won't do them again until Christmas.  Then I'll be sure to get chocolate sprinkles to add to the top of the "Bordeaux."
I decided to gift a friend with a little box of chocolates (so I don't eat them all!).  I love that with the Scor-Pal, I can easily make a box or bag.  Once I decide on the dimensions, it only takes a minute to decide how large I need my cardstock and where to put the folds and cuts.
For this one, I cut the bottom 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 and scored 1" in on each side all the way around.  I made the top 4 7/8 x 4 7/8 and again scored 1" from each side.  I die cut the star from the center and taped cellophane behind it.  A Fiskars Border Punch was used on the top piece before taping it all together.  The cardstock was double sided, so I just flipped my star over and used it for a tag.

I'm entering this in PaperCrafter's Corner's Magazine Monday Challenge, my new fave challenge!  Here's the inspiration for this week.   I went with the patriotic colors and, Steph, did you notice I used the negative space again?  :o)

I've never entered the Scor-Pal challenge, but realized I could do a twofer this week.  I do love my Scor-Pals, yes, Scor-Pals, plural.  I bought the newer one with more grooves, but can't part with the original.  I'd love to have a Scor-Buddy, too, just because it's so cute.  The Scor-Pal challenge is "More Than One Score" Challenge #6 - Colors of Your Country/Patriotic."   This is a monthly challenge that runs through the end of July.
Hopefully, my links will take you to both of these challenges.  Thanks for looking.

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays – Week 56!

Another fun challenge at PaperCrafter's Corner!  I'm so enjoying this place!  I do hope more Fiskateers and displaced Peas will join us.
I'm making a gift set of cards for a young lady and decided to incorporate the challenge into that project.  I lifted much of the layout from a blog I enjoy by Stacy Cohen. I liked the idea of bright colors against a black background and went with that.  I hope you like it.  I hope Madison likes it.  :o)

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays – Week 55!

Wow!  PaperCrafter's Corner didn't have a Magazine Monday last week, and I got nothing done!  If I'm ever going to get caught up on my scrapbooking, I guess I neeed to find another challenge or two.  That seems to be the motivation and inspiration I need.
So here's my submission.  I wanted to go big on the triangle theme, so I started with scoring some Core'dinations cardstock on the backside.  I sanded it gently on the front for my background.  The rest is pretty obvious.  I chopped up DGD's pictures and put them back together, mostly.  I also used some extra cardstock triangles, embossed some of them with a LifeStyle folder, and sprinkled a few rhinestones around.  I love rhinestones.  It's hard to stop!  The border punch is by Fiskars.  The title is Sizzix Mango Tango.  The journal box is from Sizzix, too.  I heat embossed it with detail silver powder, but it may not show here.  :o)

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays – Week 54!

I was beginning to think I wouldn't get to play along with PaperCrafter's Corner this week, but here it is late Saturday afternoon, and I did it!  Yay!  This is a fun place for inspiration, so I do hope others will join in.
The magazine given for inspiration this week provided lots of ideas.  I had a hard time choosing just one, but ended up going with the tropical color scheme.  Here's the inspiration:
http://pccorner.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/MM-Week-54-Inspiration-Piece-298x300.jpgI made a 5" x 5" card using the sketch from DCVW's June Stackaholic challenge and used DCVW Citrus Stacks, both print and solid.  Lots of glitter on these papers.  Love that!  The sentiment is cut from 2 DieVersions dies.  The flowers are dies from La-La Land, the leaves, from Cheery Lynn Designs.  It's all just in time for my dear friend Pat's birthday.  I hope to see her at church tomorrow and gift her with some of my homemade olallieberry jam.
