PaperCrafter's Corner: Magazine Monday #127

     Right here you are supposed to see PaperCrafter's Corner inspiration photo for week #127.  Try as I might I can't copy it and paste here.  I rebooted, upgraded Mozilla, upgraded Yahoo and still can't get it to work.  The hot link works, though, so please check out this great site if you haven't before. 

     The magazine cover shows an assortment of pretty, vintage Christmas ornaments.  That's the part I jumped on.  I have an assortment of classic Christmas characters.  Almost at the last minute, I needed something to put gift cards in.  I made these cute boxes with the Winter Paver Favor Boxes svg files from My Scrap Chick.  I hid the gift cards under an assortment of Hershey kisses.  I used a lot of glittery, blingy stuff, but I rarely get photos that show that fun stuff.

PaperCrafter's Corner: Magazine Monday #126

     I am finally finishing up a few Christmas projects!  I packed up my supplies and took them with me to Stanford last week where Hubby had a TAVR procedure, a Transarterial Aortic Valve Replacement.  He had the choice of having open heart surgery locally or going to Stanford and participating in a trial in which the aortic valve is replaced via a femoral artery.  Chest cracked or arteries poked?  He chose the latter.  The procedure was done last Tuesday.  He was released Thursday and went to church this morning! 
     So in that whirlwind, I didn't have time to sit long enough to do any crafting!  :o)  But having our calendar cleared gave me time to play along with PCC's Magazine Monday this weekend. 

     I'm making cards for the sweet ladies who clean our home every other week.  I had cut the greeting out with the Cricut before we left, but took inspiration from the magazine cover to put it together.
My printed paper is similar to the gift wrapping the man is carrying, I have a bold title and a red border, Christmas colors.  Inside I used Wink of Stella on the "gracias," but that's hard to see.
     So glad to be back in the mix.  I hope I can start playing along more.  Babysitting DGD Tuesday through Friday, only leaves me Saturday to play.  Sunday is busy and Monday, too late.  DIL's schedule should change after the first of the year, and I'll have Friday and Saturday again.  Yay!  Merry Christmas to all!
    

PaperCrafter's Corner: Week 124

     My, oh, my, I can't believe it has been so long since I posted!  A schedule change meant I didn't have two days in a row to craft.  I can't manage to get very creative without that.  Maybe it is because I'm old.  Maybe if I left myself notes I could remember what I had planned to do the second day.  Now I'm so far behind I hardly know where to start!  But I did manage to make my daughter a birthday card! 

     This is an easel card using a free svg file from Miss Kate Cuttables.  She has adorable svgs!  My daughter, a teacher, is Mrs. Howell.  When she got married some of the little girls in her class misunderstood and drew wedding pictures of Mrs. Owl.  It stuck!  Owls are her thing now.  They celebrate their 5th anniversary next month.
     The "Happy Birthday" is a gift card packet.  It had a little music button to push.  On the final version, which I forgot to photograph, I put an "x" near the owl, over the button, with a tag saying, "X marks the spot."  If the x was pushed while the card was still folded up, the music played.  She was quite tickled.  My son-in-law thinks I'm a genius!  HaHa!
     I have a lot of Magazine Monday covered: pumpkins, fall colors, leaves; and something I'm thankful for, my sweet daughter, "Mrs. Owl."

PaperCrafter's Corner: Week 99!

    I love this magazine cover!  I was even tempted to do a big quilled letter.  Then I got my Quick Cards magazine from the UK.  Next month's gift is a quilling set, so no point trying to find the right stuff now.  I'll try quilling next month!  Maybe.  LOL!

PCC inspiration

     I think I would have saved time if I had gone with quilling for all the starts and stops I did.  I completely gave up yesterday, but today I remembered a project I have had in my head for several weeks.  The frame was ready and waiting.  I needed to put it together.  A big M for our surname was the perfect addition.  I die cut that twice, once with an upcycled manilla folder for stiffness and once with printed paper.  I stapled red and blue bakers' twine across the opening from the backside.
   

   

     It was fun designing the M, finding the right font and slicing out the letters for "family" in Cricut Design Space.  The learning curve isn't nearly as steep as I expected. 
     I printed out a few pictures I captured from Instagram of the grandkids.  Have several more I want to add to this frame.  Tomorrow.  Maybe.  LOL!  But now that it's done, I can change up the pictures regularly.  Maybe.

PaperCrafters Corner Magazine Monday #98

     Okay, I made them pose for this one!  But I needed a May page in DGD's page-a-month scrapbook, so decided this would be great.  I will add a journaling block with the confession that it was staged. . . just in case we forget.  :o)
     Besides the photo, I used a red and black heading, a large circle (all of which I cut with the Cricut!) and, of course, the Mother's Day theme from the inspiration piece.  It wasn't long ago I was complaining about not being able to cut large letters.  Now I can cut them up to 24" tall!

     My background paper is beige with tiny hearts.  The wall in front of which my lovelies are standing is kind of tan.  The 2015 tag is from an upcycled manilla folder.  I think it makes the photo look a little underexposed.  It looks much better in person!  And this week I will get that light box put together!  Better photos are ahead, I hope!

PaperCrafters Corner Magazine Monday #97

     I was asked this week to make more thank you cards for the veterinary ophthalmologist my DIL works for, so I had pets on the brain.  I decided to use the layout of six panels taken from PCC's inspiration piece.  I also used some similar patterns.  I love this Impression Obsession die that cuts out six different cats at once.  I also have one that cuts five dogs.  Love the different positions they are in.

     The bottom left cat was cut from orange DCWV glittery paper.  Since I still haven't put the light box together the photography isn't what I'd like.  That's a must-do this week.  I printed my sentiment on an upcycled manila folder, separated the words and inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.  I made several of these, so was able to show the inside of one in the same pic, a simple thank you.  And thank you for looking.  :o)

Papercrafting Challenge: Earth Day 2015

     PaperCrafter's Corner issued a second challenge this week, and I just had to bite.  This one was especially fun.  Can you see what I did, Steph?

     I re-recycled!  The red paper background of this card was the wrapping paper from Package 12, the Cricut I won on PaperCrafter's Corner at Christmas.  Stephanie recycled a bit of it to make a little enclosure card.  I couldn't toss that little piece of paper.  I saw it first online for days.  Then it came in my mailbox.  It had sentimental value.  And it's pretty, too. 
     I printed and cut out (with the Cricut) several of  this Sassy Cheryl graphic.  I used one on my Magazine Monday card, but this little girl just called out to be used on another card.  The background on the other card was recycled from a magazine, so I guess I did a tiny bit for Earth Day. 
     I used Stickles and Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle.  The "hello" is an early Cuttlebug die, and the white rectangle was cut with a stitched edge Lawn Fawn die.  The ribbon is very sparkly, too, but I couldn't get that to show up. 
     I'm in the process of making a light box.  Hopefully, I'll get better photos then.  In the meantime, thanks for looking.   And don't forget to recycle, recycle, recycle!
